Friday, December 3,2010 from 3:30pm until ??…we at Watershed Books are excited to host local artist, modern native flautist, keyboardist, bassist, composer, producer, recording artist and storyteller ,Kevin Village Stone-Kiwamura.
Being of Cherokee and Japanese ancestry . Kevin performs and records original instrumental compositions of Native American and Ecuadorian flutes over modern and traditional instruments. His work also includes the renowned “Whispering Light” series of meditation music CDs that are widely popular.
A unique flavor of Kevin’s music is that he writes and arranges it all himself and plays every instrument on the recordings. “I do not consider myself to be a traditional Native flute player, although I know many traditional songs … I play for myself and ceremony…the music I perform is a type of cross-cultural renaissance from inside me that uses every musical element I have learned and experienced.”
Kevin also performs native flute demonstrations, conducts both Native American and Japanese cultural education presentations, and performs multi-tribal traditional storytelling in various public, private, charities and museums throughout Northern California
Please join Watershed Books and Kevin Village Stone-Kiwamura on Friday Afternoon, December 3rd for a very special event. Kevin’s recording will be available for sale. Complimentary refreshments.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the Glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us. It’s in everyone.

Steve Bartholomew will read from and discuss his mysterious novel, Chapel Perilous , here at Watershed Books on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 3pm until 5pm. “I do think that women could make politics irrelevant by a kind of spontaneous cooperative action, the likes of which we have never see–just so far from people’s ideas of state structure and viable social structure that it seems to them like total anarchy. And what it is is very subtle forms of interrelation which do not follow some hierarchical pattern that is fundamentally patriarchal. The opposite of patriarchy is not matriarchy, but fraternity. And i think it’s women who are going to have to break the spiral of power and find the trick of cooperation.”
KitDee DeCanti has written an engrossing novel that takes place here in our own Lake County.
Hints follow… The mysterious death of a young woman is deemed a suicide, but the sheriff deputy heads another investigation which leads him into danger, romance and the answers to more than one mystery.
Ms. DeCanti’s novel is a fine mystery and a wonderful exploration of lake county.
Join KitDee at Watershed Books on Friday, January 8th from 3:00pm until 5:00pm as she explores her creative muse and reads from this and other written works. As always, refreshment.
Later, enjoy the montly art opening at Main Street Gallery’s Friday Fling. Always good art, good music and good company.
Friday, December 3rd, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm, Martha Steward will share her beautifully illustrated book, a treasure for young and adults, Darby’s Story. This is an inspirational book about how adopting a pet can bring so much joy to you and your family. Darby lived a full 15 years and touched many people with his big heart. Steward will discuss her creative process, read from and sign her book. As always, refreshments too.
Friday, December 11th, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm… We’ll celebrate Diane Arruda’s second book about her beloved character, Golden Fish as the Dream River Adventure series continues. In this volume, things once undiscovered are NOW discovered! Like Darby, this too will enchant both young and not as young. Arruda will read, discuss, and sign The Ancient Ones. Refreshments and good discussions, as above.
