MAY 1ST EVENT AT WATERSHED BOOKS

This is so exciting. I’m looking forward to introducing you all to Tedde McMillen who will be giving a presentation and signing copies of her newly published book, MILLION DOLLAR CUP OF TEA, THE FOUNDING OF OREGON CHAI. This wonderful, informative, and supportive (for all of facing challenging financial times) is the true-life story of a mother-daughter team who built a business in completely unfamiliar terrain – and sold it a decade later for $75 million. Their journey was littered with speed bumps, u-turns and collisions. Tedde watches with pride as her little girl grows into a CEO before her eyes. You’ll enjoy this heart-warming business memoir willed to the brim with life lessons learned the way -readers call it a real page- turner!
“Anlyone considering starting a bausiness would be advised to read McMillan’s book. For the rest of us, it’s an entertaining and revealing look at an energetic woman who, at 50 years old, was earning her college degree and building a business.

Happy Spring Equinox All.

We’re here hoping for more rain whilst being knocked out by the beauty of spring.

Lot’s happening in our community as we work making sustainable, green, and socially justice decisions as we move ahead.  Interesting, difficult, challenging, exciting, community building and more.  How are things going in your corner of the universe?

News at the Bookstore… March 28th, Saturday, from 3-5pm we will be hosting our second annual Poetry Slam

It will take place next door at Cafe Victoria, 301 North Main Street in Lakeport.

It works like this… Poets vie for cash prizes.  Poetry Slams are an authentic venue for poets and performers.  No props are allowed, and while some poets use nothing but their words to deliver a poem, others stretch the boundaries of the format, tap-dancing, beat boxing or using highly choreographed movements.  The audience is definitely part of the action.  Judges are chosen from the audience and cheering on favorites is encouraged.  Host Cheri Holden of Watershed has cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners;  3 poems; 3 rounds; 3 winners.  Poet performers sign up for competition at the door.  for more information check out…myspace.com/lakeportpoetryslam or call Watershed Books at 707.263.5787.  I’m looking forward to seeing  you there.
