autumn thoughts; fall events

I’ve just returned from a wonderfully colorful sojourn  north, eventually arriving in Portland and an- oh- so- pleasing visit with my son, jesse.  It’s his artistic vision, by the way, that created Watershed Books website.

A constant for me about great trips  is… it is always so lovely to return home!  Lakeport is such a luscious little town.  A diverse community always working to making life better. [ and of course there’s nothing like sleeping in your own bed]

Like the rest of the country, we are all interested, if not deeply involved in the upcoming elections.  Whatever the outcome, I hope we all continue our commitment to sustainable and respectful living and environmental, economical and social justice.

So… that said…we are all looking forward to Mary McMillan’s visit to our bookstore.  Mary is Lake County’s poet laureate and like those that come before her works diligently to enrich the literary landscape of our community.

Mary McMillan’s new book, This Wanting, is a beautifully rendered volume of poetry that draws you into an atmospheric world so honestly and sometimes painfully wrought.

Please join us on Friday, November 7th from 3:00 until 5:00 as Ms. McMillan shares her inspiration, reads from her works and signs your copy!  Refreshments too.

As a bonus, the “First Friday Fling”  will begin at 5:00 in the Main Street Gallery two doors down.  New art is celebrated each month on the [what else] first Friday.
